I attended Dominique's masterclass yesterday in the Cork Jazz Festival, Ireland. His self-taught playing style reassured me that I don't have to conform to the "accepted" playing styles found in books and how many bassists play. From now on I will stick to my comfortable playing technique which I find is alot faster than the two-finger approach. Thank you Dominique, you are an inspiration! I hope to see you in Cork again in the future!
P.S: Harmonics are there to be used, Jaco would be proud that you are carrying on his tradition!!

Some things come late in life.  But thank god, they do come!  Last night was the first time I heard Dominique's playing when I listened to a cut from the Que Alegria album with John and Gurtu.  Absolutely astounding!  As a fellow bass-player, it was Jaco who sparked my love of the instrument and now Dominique who has catapulted the role of the Bass to a whole new level.  What an immense talent!  Let every other bass player on the planet sit back and see just what our instrument can be when played as only Dominique can do!  Seeing and hearing you on the Que Alegria album and the clips I have found of you on YouTube, have just absolutely ROCKED my world!  Please continue your fine work so that we may forever enjoy the sounds you produce!

I saw you playing live in Wolfsburg, Germany, in KraftWerk, together with John McLaughlin, the extraordinary Drummer Mark Mondesir and the great Gary Husband. I have never seen such a good bass player! I am 50 years old have seen many many concerts, rock, hardrock, heavymetal, but this was one of the best, i've ever seen. I think only Tony Levin is such a good player like you are.

J’ai redécouvert les vidéos qui m’ont rappelées une très belle soirée à Paris où votre talent et votre gentillesse m’avaient impressionnée. Vous jouiez ce soir là avec Nelson Veras et Manhu Roche avec qui vous produisez votre prochain album.
